Taiwan Export Orders Rise 19.5%

(RTTNews) - Taiwan's export orders increased for the seventh successive month in August, according to data released by the Ministry of Economic Affairs on Tuesday.

Export orders climbed 19.5 percent annually in August, though slower than the 20.8 percent surge in July. The expected growth rate was 13.0 percent.

Orders for electronic products grew the most, by 39.5 percent, and those of information and communication products increased by 20.6 percent. Meanwhile, orders for transport equipment plunged by 18.1 percent.

On a monthly basis, export orders dropped 0.7 in August versus a 1.3 percent rebound in July.

In New Taiwan dollar terms, export orders rose 11.8 percent annually and by 2.2 percent monthly in August.
