Latvia Inflation Eases To 9-month Low

(RTTNews) - Latvia's consumer price inflation moderated in December to the lowest level in nine months, preliminary data from the statistical office showed on Tuesday.

The consumer price index rose 3.5 percent year-on-year in December, slower than the 3.8 percent increase in November.

Moreover, this was the lowest inflation rate since March, when prices rose 3.3 percent.

The annual price growth in food and non-alcoholic beverages moderated to 4.2 percent in December from 5.2 percent. Similarly, inflation based on goods and services related to transport slowed to 0.6 percent from 2.2 percent. Meanwhile, costs for housing and utilities grew at a faster pace of 6.9 percent versus 6.2 percent in November.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices dropped 0.1 percent in December, following a 0.3 percent decrease in November.
