Cyprus Inflation Climbs To 1-year High

04/02/2026 - 07:33:00 (RTTNews)

(RTTNews) - Cyprus' consumer price inflation accelerated in March to the highest level in one year amid a rise in costs for food items, preliminary data from the statistical office showed on Thursday.

The consumer price index rose 1.2 percent year-on-year in March, faster than the 0.1 percent increase in February.

Moreover, this was the highest inflation rate since March 2025, when prices had risen 1.6 percent.

The annual price growth in food and non-alcoholic beverages quickened to 6.2 percent from 2.4 percent. Meanwhile, the decline in clothing and footwear prices eased to 5.8 percent from 6.8 percent. Data showed that deflation on transportation moderated to 0.1 percent from 3.7 percent.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices also increased 1.2 percent in February.

Separate official data showed that the annual retail sales growth eased sharply to 3.3 percent in February from 8.5 percent in the prior month.
