Czech Inflation Rises To 6-month High

(RTTNews) - The Czech Republic's consumer price inflation accelerated as expected in April to the highest level in six months, preliminary data from the Czech Statistical Office showed on Wednesday.

Consumer prices climbed 2.5 percent year-over-year in April, faster than the 1.9 percent increase in March. Moreover, a similar inflation rate was last seen in October 2025.

Energy prices rose 1.5 percent annually in April versus a 1.7 percent fall a month ago. Services inflation rose slightly to 4.8 percent from 4.7 percent, and prices for goods grew at a faster pace of 1.1 percent.

Costs for alcoholic beverages and tobacco grew sharply by 5.2 percent, while the deflation in food and non-alcoholic beverages deepened to 1.3 percent from 1.1 percent.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices moved up 0.5 percent.
