Turkey Inflation Eases To 30.87% In March

(RTTNews) - Turkey's consumer price inflation moderated in March after rising to a 4-month high in February, figures from the Turkish Statistical Institute showed on Friday.

Consumer price inflation slowed to 30.87 percent in March from 31.53 percent in February. The expected inflation rate was 31.4 percent.

The annual price growth in food and non-alcoholic beverages eased to 32.36 percent from 36.44 percent. Inflation based on housing softened to 42.06 percent from 42.33 percent. Meanwhile, transport charges grew at a faster pace of 34.35 percent.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices moved up 1.94 percent in March, after rising 2.96 percent a month ago.

Separate official data showed that producer price inflation accelerated to a 15-month high of 28.08 percent in March from 27.56 percent in February.

Among sectors, mining and quarrying prices grew 32.28 percent from last year, and manufacturing prices were 29.43 percent higher. The price index for the electricity, gas, and steam rose 14.3 percent, and those for water supply surged 38.25 percent.

Monthly, producer prices increased 2.3 percent in March after rising 2.43 percent in the prior month.
