Taiwan Inflation Eases To 2.03%

(RTTNews) - Taiwan consumer price inflation moderated in April after rising in the previous month, data released by the Directorate General of Budget, Accounting, and Statistics showed on Wednesday.

The consumer price index, or CPI, rose 2.03 percent year-on-year in April, slower than the 2.32 percent rise in March.

Food inflation eased to 4.3 percent from 4.9 percent. Housing costs also increased at a slower pace of 1.89 percent versus a 2.2 percent rise seen in March.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose a seasonally adjusted 0.05 percent in April after a 0.17 percent increase in the prior month.

Data also showed that producer price inflation softened to 0.93 percent from 3.66 percent in March.
