(RTTNews) - Taiwan's industrial production growth rebounded in September, while retail sales decreased after recovering in August, separate reports from the Ministry of Economic Affairs showed on Thursday.

Industrial production advanced 15.48 percent yearly in September, faster than the 13.67 percent rise in August.

Among the main sectors, the annual growth of manufacturing output accelerated to 16.90 percent from 14.81 percent, while the decline in mining and quarrying production moderated further to 6.46 percent from 10.94 percent.

Meanwhile, the electricity and gas supply segment logged a faster decline of 9.99 percent versus 6.79 percent a month ago.

On a month-on-month basis, industrial production fell a seasonally adjusted 0.12 percent in September after a flat change in August.

Another report from the statistical office showed that retail sales dropped 2.2 percent yearly in September, reversing a 0.4 percent increase in the prior month, which was the first rise in five months.

Sales of household appliances and goods in specialized stores declined 5.0 percent, and those of textiles and clothing in specialized stores dropped 2.3 percent. On the other hand, sales at general merchandise stores rose 2.1 percent.
