Taiwan Export Orders Surge 30.5%

(RTTNews) - Taiwan's export orders expanded at the quickest pace in seven months in September, according to data released by the Ministry of Economic Affairs on Tuesday.

Export orders grew 30.5 percent annually in September, much faster than the 19.5 percent surge in August. The expected growth rate was 17.8 percent.

Orders for electronic products grew the most, by 49.5 percent, and those of information and communication products increased by 33.1 percent. Meanwhile, orders for basic metal and related items fell by 6.3 percent.

On a monthly basis, export orders rebounded sharply by 17.0 percent in September versus a 0.7 percent drop in August.

In New Taiwan dollar terms, export orders rose 24.1 percent annually and by 17.8 percent monthly in September.
