Sweden Producer Price Inflation Rises To 6.8%

(RTTNews) - Producer price inflation in Sweden accelerated in August amid higher energy costs, data from Statistics Sweden showed on Friday.

The producer price index climbed 6.8 percent year-on-year in August, faster than the 6.4 percent increase in July. Prices have been rising since March.

Energy prices continued to grow sharply by 25.2 percent from last year. There was a 1.6 percent increase in costs for capital goods, while a 1.6 percent decline was seen in the prices for consumer goods.

Excluding energy-related products, produce price inflation was 3.9 percent.

The producer price index for home sales rose 7.0 percent in August from last year. Both import and export prices rose by 9.5 percent and 6.8 percent, respectively.

On a monthly basis, producer prices moved up 0.9 percent after rising 0.1 percent only in July.
