Financial News: South Korea September Trade Surplus $49.85 Billion

(RTTNews) - South Korea posted a seasonally adjusted merchandise trade surplus of $49.85 billion in September, the Customs Office said on Thursday.

That beat expectations for a surplus of $38.20 billion and was up from $34.79 billion in August.

Exports surged 83.5 percent on year, topping forecasts for a spike of 61.7 percent and accelerating from 68.7 percent in the previous month.

Imports climbed an annual 26.0 percent versus expectations for a gain of 21.5 percent after rising 22.4 percent a month earlier.
