South Africa Jobless Rate Falls In Q3

(RTTNews) - South Africa's unemployment rate decreased in the third quarter, data from Statistics South Africa showed on Tuesday.

The jobless rate dropped to 31.9 percent in the third quarter from 33.2 percent in the second quarter. In the corresponding period last year, the unemployment rate was 32.1 percent.

The number of unemployed people fell to 8.0 million in the third quarter from 8.34 million in the previous quarter.

Meanwhile, the employment rate stood at 40.7 percent versus 40.2 percent in the June quarter. Data showed that the labor force participation rate was 59.7 percent, down from 60.2 percent.
