Singapore Industrial Output Rebounds Sharply In September

10/24/2025 - 04:30:00 (RTTNews)

(RTTNews) - Singapore's industrial production expanded markedly in September after a renewed contraction in August, the Economic Development Board said Friday.

Manufacturing output surged 16.1 percent in September from a year ago, reversing a 9.0 decrease in August. Output was expected to increase by 0.5 percent. Further, this was the fastest growth since August 2024.

Excluding biomedical manufacturing, production grew 16.1 percent, in contrast to the 9.0 percent increase in the previous month.

Data showed that biomedical manufacturing expanded 45.9 percent, which was due to the sharp 55.3 percent growth in the pharmaceutical segment. Transport engineering grew 13.8 percent, and electronics output rose 13.2 percent. Data showed that chemical output posted a moderate 1.2 percent increase.

Meanwhile, general manufacturing output contracted 4.7 percent from a year ago, and precision engineering output decreased 5.9 percent.

On a monthly basis, industrial production jumped 26.3 percent, reversing an 11.0 percent fall in August.
