Romania Producer Price Inflation Eases To 7-month Low

04/02/2026 - 04:42:00 (RTTNews)

(RTTNews) - Romania's producer price inflation moderated in February to the lowest level in seven months, data from the National Institute of Statistics showed on Thursday.

The producer price index rose 3.0 percent yearly in February, much slower than the 7.7 percent surge in January. Prices have been rising since July.

Moreover, this was the lowest inflation rate since July 2025, when prices rose 2.5 percent.

Prices in the domestic market climbed 2.7 percent from last year, and those in the export market were 3.9 percent higher.

Among main industrial groups, prices for the intermediate goods alone grew 5.5 percent, and the capital goods industry showed a price growth of 3.3 percent. Costs for the non-durable consumer goods rose 4.5 percent, while energy prices increased only by 0.3 percent.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices dropped 1.1 percent in February.
