RBA Meeting Minutes Due On Tuesday

(RTTNews) - The Reserve Bank of Australia will on Tuesday release the minutes from its August 11 monetary policy meeting, highlighting a busy day for Asia-Pacific economic activity.

At the meeting, the RBA kept its benchmark lending rate steady at 4.35 percent following 25 basis point hikes in February, March and May. The board said it remains focused on ensuring that high inflation does not become embedded, although CPI is not expected to return to around the midpoint of the target range until late 2027

Japan will see June results for its leading and coincident indexes. The leading index is called flat on month after adding 0.4 percent in May. The coincident is seen higher by 0.3 percent on month after slipping 0.2 percent a month earlier.

Taiwan will provide July figures for industrial production; in June, production jumped 22.95 percent on year.

Hong Kong will release July numbers for imports, exports and trade balance. In June, imports were up 45.4 percent and exports rose 53.4 percent for a trade deficit of HKD52.0 billion.

Finally, the markets in Malaysia and Indonesia are closed on Tuesday for Prophet Muhammad's Birthday and will re-open on Wednesday.
