Philippine Industrial Output Rebounds 0.4%

05/07/2025 - 02:33:00 (RTTNews)

(RTTNews) - Philippine industrial output expanded in March after falling in the previous month, preliminary data from the Philippine Statistical Authority showed on Wednesday.

The value of production in the manufacturing industries climbed 0.4 percent year-over-year in March, reversing a 0.6 percent decrease in February.

The rebound in March was driven by a 19.2 percent growth in the manufacture of food products. Another positive outcome came from the transport equipment segment, which rose by 5.9 percent.

On the other hand, the highest annual decline was noted in the manufacture of basic metals at 38.4 per cent.

On a monthly basis, industrial production decreased a seasonally adjusted 3.3 percent from February, when it dropped by 3.5 per cent.

Separate official data showed that the Philippines' unemployment rate rose marginally to 3.9 percent in March from 3.8 percent in February. The total number of unemployed individuals in March was registered at 1.93 million compared to 2.0 million in the corresponding month last year.
