Financial News: New Zealand Manufacturing Sector Accelerates In September

New Zealand Manufacturing Sector Accelerates In September - BusinessNZ

10/15/2026 - 17:42:00 (RTTNews)

(RTTNews) - The manufacturing sector in New Zealand continued to expand in September, and at a faster pace, the latest survey from BusinessNZ revealed on Friday with a manufacturing PMI score of 56.5.

That's up from the upwardly revised 53.3 in August (originally 53.1) and it moves further above the boom-or-bust line of 50 that separates expansion from contraction.

Among the individual components of the survey production (57.0), employment (51.8), new orders (57.0), finished stocks (59.0) and deliveries (58.8) all expanded in September.

"Putting June's exceptional 60.1 figure to one side, September's read is the highest since 2021. An impressive result considering the vast number of domestic and international headwinds currently at play," said BNZ Senior Economist Doug Steel.
