New Zealand Building Permits Sink 0.9% In October

(RTTNews) - The total number of building permits issued in New Zealand was down a seasonally adjusted 0.9 percent on month in November, Statistics New Zealand said on Monday - coming in at 3,520.

That was roughly in line with estimates following the upwardly revised 7.3 percent increase in September (originally 7.2 percent).

In October, permits were issued for 1,612 townhouses, flats, and units; 1,568 stand-alone houses; 194 apartments; and 146 retirement village units.

In the year ended October 2025, the actual number of new dwellings consented was 35,552, up 6.2 percent from the year ended October 2024.

The annual value of non-residential building work consented was NZ$8.9 billion, down 4.7 percent on year.
