New Zealand Building Consents Sink 5.6% In December

(RTTNews) - The total number of building permits issued in New Zealand in December was down a seasonally adjusted 5.6 percent on month in December, Statistics New Zealand said on Tuesday - coming in at 2,478.

That follows the downwardly revised 4.9 percent increase in November (originally 5.3 percent).

In the year ended December, the actual number of new dwellings consented was 33,600, down 9.8 percent from a year earlier.

The annual value of non-residential building work consented was NZ$9.3 billion, down 0.9 percent from a year earlier.

In the December 2024 quarter, the seasonally adjusted number of new homes consented fell 3.5 percent, after rising 5.5 percent in the September 2024 quarter.
