Malaysia Producer Prices Fall At Slower Pace

12/24/2024 - 05:47:00 (RTTNews)

(RTTNews) - Malaysia's producer prices decreased for the third straight month in November, though at a slower rate, figures from the Department of Statistics showed on Tuesday.

Producer prices fell 0.4 percent year-on-year in November, following a 2.4 percent drop in October, which was the steepest decline since June 2023. The expected fall was 1.8 percent.

Among sectors, mining prices declined the most by 8.3 percent from last year, but the pace of decrease eased sharply from 17.3 percent a month ago. The price index for manufacturing showed a fall of 1.8 percent.

On the other hand, prices in the agriculture, forestry, and fishing sectors surged 21.8 percent, and the price index for the utility sector increased 0.9 percent.

On a month-on-month basis, producer prices climbed 1.4 percent in November, reversing a 0.7 percent fall in October.
