Malaysia Producer Prices Fall 1.9%

(RTTNews) - Malaysia's producer prices decreased for the first time in four months in March, figures from the Department of Statistics showed on Monday.

Producer prices fell 1.9 percent year-on-year in March, reversing a 0.3 percent increase in February.

Among sectors, the price index in the mining sector plunged 15.0 percent from last year versus a 9.7 percent drop a month ago. Prices for the manufacturing sector declined 1.8 percent, and those in the utility segment decreased by 0.5 percent.

On the other hand, the price index for the agriculture, forestry, and fishing sector remained a positive trend, up by 9.9 percent.

On a month-on-month basis, producer prices dropped 0.6 percent in March, following a 0.1 percent gain in February.
