Latvia Inflation Rises To 3.2%

(RTTNews) - Latvia's consumer price inflation increased in August from a 5-month low in July, data from the statistical office showed on Tuesday.

The consumer price index rose 3.2 percent year-on-year in August, following a 2.6 percent increase in June.

Inflation based on transportation quickened notably to 8.6 percent from 4.6 percent amid higher fuel costs. Housing and utility costs grew at a stable pace of 6.8 percent, and health costs were 4.2 percent higher.

Conversely, the deflation in food and non-alcoholic beverages deepened to 4.0 percent from 3.1 percent.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices dropped 0.3 percent, reversing a 0.7 percent decrease in July.
