Irish Jobless Rate Rises To 4.8%

(RTTNews) - Ireland's jobless rate increased slightly in October, preliminary data from the Central Statistics Office showed on Wednesday.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 4.8 percent in October from a 4.7 percent stable increase in September. In the corresponding month last year, the jobless rate was 4.7 percent.

The seasonally adjusted number of unemployed increased to 143,600 in October from 142,000 in September. A year ago, it was 137,700.

Youth unemployment, measured for those aged 15 to 24 years, stood at 11.5 percent in October versus 11.4 percent in September.
