Indonesia Retail Sales Growth Strongest In 13 Months

10/09/2025 - 09:56:00 (RTTNews)

(RTTNews) - Indonesia's retail sales expanded at the quickest pace in just over a year in September, preliminary data from the Bank Indonesia showed on Thursday.

Retail sales rose 5.8 percent year-on-year in September, faster than the 3.5 percent rise a month ago. Sales have been rising since May. Moreover, a similar rate of growth was last seen in August 2024.

The acceleration in growth was driven by more sales of food, beverages, and tobacco and other household equipment and cultural and recreational goods.

On a monthly basis, retail sales dropped 0.3 percent, in contrast to a 0.6 percent recovery in August. The decline was primarily impacted by lower sales of clothing.
