(RTTNews) - Indonesia inflation accelerated to the strongest level in 18 months in October, official data showed on Monday.

The consumer price index rose 2.86 percent year-on-year in October, faster than the 2.65 percent in September. This was the highest inflation since April 2024, when the rate was 3.0 percent.

The central bank targets to keep inflation in the range of 1.5 percent and 3.5 percent this year.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices moved up 0.28 percent, following a 0.21 percent gain in the previous month.

Another report from the statistical office showed that the trade surplus decreased more-than-expected to $4.34 billion in September from $5.49 billion in August. The surplus was seen at $4.79 billion.

Exports logged a double-digit annual growth of 11.41 percent, which was faster than the expected growth of 7.72 percent. At the same time, imports rebounded 7.17 percent compared to the forecast of 1.0 percent increase.
