Eurozone Producer Prices Fall Marginally

(RTTNews) - Eurozone producer prices dropped marginally in September, data from Eurostat showed on Wednesday.

Producer prices logged a monthly fall of 0.1 percent, following a 0.4 percent decrease in August. Prices were expected to remain flat in September.

Excluding energy, producer prices remained unchanged for the third straight month in September.

On a yearly basis, the decline in producer prices slowed to 0.2 percent in September from 0.6 percent in August, data showed.

Within main industrial grouping, prices of energy logged the biggest annual fall of 2.4 percent. Prices of intermediate goods also dropped but slightly by 0.1 percent.

Partially offsetting these declines, producer prices of non-durable consumer goods and durable consumer goods advanced 1.9 percent and 1.6 percent, respectively. Cost of capital goods grew 1.8 percent in September.

In the EU27, producer prices decreased 0.1 percent from August but increased 0.1 percent from a year ago.
