Czech Economic Sentiment Falls In August

(RTTNews) - The Czech economy's confidence remained slightly less positive in August, and consumers also expressed a less optimistic attitude, survey results from the Czech Statistical Office showed on Monday.

The economic sentiment index dropped to 100.5 in August from 101.1 in July. Nonetheless, a score above 100 indicates an optimistic outlook.

The business confidence index remained stable at 100. 2. Among sectors, industrial confidence improved to 98.1 from 97.8, while the morale for the construction eased from 113.2 to 112.6.

The confidence in the selected services sector decreased slightly to 102.2 from 102.4, and the trade confidence fell to 92.2 from 93.3.

Confidence among consumers declined in August, with the consumer confidence index falling to a 13-month low of 102.3 from 105.6 in July.

The share of households expecting deterioration in the general economic situation in the country over the next twelve months increased for the second successive month, while their outlook regarding their own financial situation over the next year remained unchanged.
