Christian Hawkesby Appointed As Interim RBNZ Chief

(RTTNews) - New Zealand Finance Minister Nicola Willis appointed Christian Hawkesby as governor of Reserve Bank of New Zealand for six months. Hawkesby has been acting governor since March 5 after Adrian Orr stepped down last month.

The appointment of Hawkesby is effective from April 8 and can be extended by up to three months with written notice, the ministry said.

The RBNZ board has commenced the recruitment process to nominate for appointment a Governor who will serve for five years.

"I am proud to step into the role of Governor and continue contributing to our mission of working to enable economic prosperity and wellbeing for all New Zealanders," Hawkesby said.
