Brazil Jobless Rate Remains Stable At 5.6%

(RTTNews) - Brazil's unemployment rate held steady in the three months ending in September, figures from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, or IBGE, showed on Friday.

The jobless rate stood at 5.6 percent in the July-September period, the same as in June-August. Further, this was the lowest in the historical series that began in 2012.

However, the rate dropped from 5.8 percent in the April-June period.

In the corresponding period last year, the unemployment rate was 6.4 percent.

The number of unemployed people was 6.0 million, the lowest number in the historical series, falling by 3.3 percent, or 209,000 people, compared to the previous quarter.
