Australia Unemployment Data Due On Thursday

06/17/2020 - 18:00:00 (RTTNews)

(RTTNews) - Australia will on Thursday release unemployment numbers for May, highlighting a modest day in Asia-Pacific economic activity.

The jobless rate is expected to climb to 7.0 percent from 6.2 percent in April, while the Australian economy is expected to have lost 125,000 jobs after losing 594,300 in the previous month.

New Zealand will provide Q1 numbers for gross domestic product, with forecasts suggesting a decline of 1.0 percent on quarter and an increase of 0.3 percent on year following the 0.5 percent quarterly increase and the 1.8 percent yearly gain in the previous three months.

The central bank in Indonesia will wrap up its monetary policy meeting and announce its decision on interest rates. Forecasts are suggesting that the bank will trim its benchmark lending rate by 25 basis points, to 4.25 percent from 4.50 percent.

The central bank in Taiwan will also make a rate decision announcement, with forecasts predicting a cut to 1.00 percent from the current 1.125 percent.
