Australia Trade Surplus Shrinks In February

(RTTNews) - Australia's trade surplus decreased in February as exports fell amid an increase in imports, official data showed on Thursday.

The trade surplus rose to A$2.97 billion in February from A$5.16 billion in January, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said. In December, the trade balance showed surplus of A$4.7 billion.

In the same period last year, the trade balance posted a surplus of A$7.55 billion.

Exports posted a monthly decline of 3.6 percent driven by non-monetary gold. At the same time, imports increased 1.6 percent amid more inflows of capital goods.
