Australia Rate Decision Due On Tuesday

(RTTNews) - The Reserve Bank of Australia will wrap up its monetary policy meeting on Tuesday and then announce its decision on interest rates, highlighting a light day for Asia-Pacific economic activity. The RBA is widely expected to trim its benchmark lending rate to 3.85 percent from the current 4.10 percent.

Malaysia will provide April figures for imports, exports and trade balance. In March, imports were down 2.8 percent on year and exports rose 6.8 percent for a trade surplus of MYR24.70 billion.

Taiwan will release April figures for export orders and Q1 data for current account. In March, export orders jumped 12.5 percent on year, while the current account in the previous quarter was at $34.30 billion.

Hong Kong will see April unemployment data; in March, the jobless rate was 3.2 percent.
