UK Like-For-Like Sales Jump 1.9% In September - BRC

10/09/2017 - 19:46:00 (RTTNews)

(RTTNews) - Like-for-like sales in the United Kingdom climbed 1.9 percent on year in September, the British Retail Consortium said on Tuesday.

That followed the upwardly revised 1.6 percent increase in August (originally 1.3 percent).

In the three months to September, food sales were up 2.5 percent and non-food sales were up 0.5 percent.

"Spending is still being focused towards essential purchases with consumers buying their winter coats and back-to-school items, but shying away from big-ticket items such as furniture and delaying the renewal of key household electrical goods," BRC Chief Executive Helen Dickinson said.
