TERNIUM: Company To Build New Facilities In Mexico And Colombia

(RTTNews) - Ternium, a steel producer which is part of the Italian-Argentinean Techint conglomerate, announced two new investment programs aimed at deepening the development of its industrial system. The company plans to install a new hot rolling plant in its industrial center in Pesquería, Mexico, and build a new corrugated reinforcing steel bar manufacturing plant in northern Colombia.

With the new hot rolling mill in Mexico, the company wants to target the industrial and commercial markets, with the goal of "improving customer service and reducing the delivery time." The plant will have annual production capacity of 3.7 million metric tons, with a total investment of US$ 1.1 billion.According to Ternium, the new plant would be in operation in the second half of 2020.

With the new plant in Colombia, Ternium aims to produce straight bars and steel rolls to increase its corrugated reinforcing steel bar production capacity in Colombia to 720,000 metric tons. The project will have an annual production capacity of 520,000 metric tons. Total investment would reach around US$ 90 million. The new plant would be completed in the second half of 2019.
