Taiwan Manufacturing PMI Falls To 48.2 In April - Nikkei

05/01/2019 - 21:20:00 (RTTNews)

(RTTNews) - The manufacturing sector in Taiwan continued to contract in April, and at a faster rate, the latest survey from Nikkei revealed on Thursday with a manufacturing PMI score of 48.2.

That's down from 49.0 in March, and it moves further beneath the boom-or-bust line of 50 that separates expansion from contraction.

Individually, output and total new business both declined at faster rates, while firms trimmed their staffing levels.

Selling prices fell further amid efforts to boost sales, while firms were slightly more optimistic towards the one-year business outlook, though confidence remained notably weaker than the series trend.
