South Korea Manufacturing Sector Continues To Contract - Nikkei

04/02/2017 - 21:05:00 (RTTNews)

(RTTNews) - The manufacturing sector in South Korea continued to contract in March, and at a faster pace, the latest survey from Nikkei showed on Monday with a manufacturing PMI score of 48.4.

That's down from 49.2 in February, and it remains beneath the boom-or-bust line of 50 that separates expansion from contraction.

Among the individual components, deteriorating order books had a negative impact on output, while employee numbers were reduced by the greatest degree since 2008.

Output charges were up at a sharper rate despite slower cost inflation and waning demand.
