New Zealand Job Ads Fall In September

10/03/2018 - 01:10:00 (RTTNews)

(RTTNews) - Job advertisements in New Zealand decreased in September after rising in the previous two months, the results of a survey by ANZ bank showed Wednesday.

Job ads fell a seasonally adjusted 0.3 percent month-over-month in September, reversing a 0.4 percent increase in August.

The annual growth in the rolling 3-month average of job ads volume accelerated to 6.0 percent in September from 5.0 percent in the preceding month

During the third quarter, job ads registered an increase of 3.4 percent compared with the previous quarter.

"The labour market is currently "tight" and we expect that the unemployment rate will decline only modestly from its current rate of 4.5 percent," Liz Kendall, Senior Economist at ANZ said.

"Weakness in surveyed hiring intentions is casting a shadow over the outlook, but in recent months, job ads have gone broadly in the right direction, albeit at a fairly subdued rate of growth."
