New Zealand Building Permits Jump 14.0% In February

(RTTNews) - The total number of building permits in New Zealand issued in February spiked a seasonally adjusted 14.0 percent on month in February, Statistics New Zealand said on Friday - coming in at 2,418.

That included permits for 1,761 houses, 373 townhouses, flats, and units, 225 apartments and 59 retirement village units.

The headline figure follows the 2.1 percent gain in January and the 7.5 percent fall in December.

In the year to February, permits advanced 8.7 percent to 30,162 - the most for a February year since 2005.

This total includes 10,045 new homes in Auckland - also the most for a February year since 2005.

The value of building work consented in February was NZ$1.5 billion, including NZ$1.1 billion of residential work and NZ$410 million of non-residential work.
