Ireland Retail Sales Decline In March

(RTTNews) - Ireland's retail sales decreased in March after rising in the previous two months, preliminary figures from the Central Statistics Office showed Friday.

The volume of retail sales fell 0.7 percent month-over-month in March, reversing a 0.2 percent increase in February.

The sectors with the largest monthly volume decreases were furniture and lighting by 3.8 percent and department store sales that dropped 3.3 percent.

Excluding motor trade, retail sales gained 0.7 percent over the month.

On an annual basis, retail sales growth accelerated to 3.2 percent in March fro 1.9 percent in the preceding month.
