(RTTNews) - Greece's consumer price inflation accelerated for a second month in a row to its highest level in 9 months in September, data from the Hellenic Statistical Authority showed on Wednesday.

The consumer price index rose 1.1 percent year-on-year following a 1 percent increase in August. The inflation figure was the highest since November last year, when it was at the same level.

On a month-on-month basis, the CPI rose 2 percent in September after falling in the previous two months.

The EU measure of inflation, which is the harmonized index of consume prices or HICP, rose 1.1 percent year-on-year following a 0.9 percent increase in the previous month.

Compared to the previous month, the HICP climbed 1.4 percent after decreasing in the previous two months.

Separately, the statistical agency reported that industrial production rose 1.4 percent year-on-year in August after a 2 percent increase in the previous month.

On a monthly basis, production tumbled 11 percent after a 5 percent rise in the previous month.
