Greece HICP Inflation At 4-Month High

(RTTNews) - Greece's EU measure of inflation accelerated in September to the highest level in four months, figures from the Hellenic Statistical Authority showed Tuesday.

The harmonized index of consumer prices, or HICP rose 1.0 percent year-over-year in September, faster than the 0.6 percent climb in August The measure has been rising since December 2016.

Moreover, it was the strongest inflation since May, when prices had risen 1.5 percent.

Housing costs grew 1.6 percent annually in September and transport costs went up by 1.7 percent. At the same time, clothing and footwear prices dropped 1.0 percent.

On a monthly basis, the HICP climbed 1.2 percent from August, when it decreased by 0.3 percent.

The consumer price inflation rose marginally to 1.0 percent in September from 0.9 percent in the previous month. Month-on-month, consumer prices increased 1.9 percent, reversing a 0.4 percent fall seen in August.
