European Economics Preview: Eurozone Retail Sales, Final PMI Data Due

(RTTNews) - Retail sales and final Purchasing Managers' survey data from euro area are due on Thursday, headlining a busy day for the European economic news.

At 1.45 am ET, the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs is slated to release Swiss consumer sentiment survey data. The index is forecast to rise to 3 in April from -3 in prior quarter.

At 3.15 am ET, Spain's services PMI is due. The services index is seen at 57.7 in April compared to 57.4 in March.

At 3.45 am ET, Markit releases Italy's services PMI data. Economists forecast the indicator to rise to 53.6 in April from 52.9 in March. Thereafter final PMI reports are due from France and Germany.

At 4.00 am ET, Eurozone final composite PMI data is due. The index is expected to match the flash score of 56.7 in April.

In the meantime, the Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders is scheduled to issue UK car registrations figures for April.

Also, Norges Bank is set to announce its interest rate decision. The bank is widely expected to keep its key rate unchanged at 0.5 percent.

At 4.30 am ET, the Bank of England is slated to issue UK mortgage approvals for March. The number of mortgages approved decreased to 67,300 from 68,300 in February.

In the meantime, UK Markit/CIPS services PMI data is due. Economists forecast the index to fall to 54.5 in April from 55.0 in March.

At 5.00 am ET, Eurostat is scheduled to release euro area retail sales figures for March. Economists forecast retail sales to remain flat in March after rising 0.7 percent in February.

At 7.00 am ET, the Czech National Bank is set to announce the outcome of its board meeting.
