European Economics Preview: Eurozone Economic Sentiment Data Due

(RTTNews) - Economic confidence from euro area and flash consumer prices from Germany are due on Monday, headlining a light day for the European economic news.

At 2.00 am ET, Statistics Norway is slated to release retail sales for December. Sales had increased 0.2 percent on month in November.

At 3.00 am ET, Spain's INE publishes preliminary GDP data for the fourth quarter. The economy is expected to grow 0.7 percent sequentially at the end of the year.

In the meantime, Hungary's unemployment data is due. The jobless rate stood at 4.5 percent in November. Also, Swiss KOF leading indicator is due for January.

At 5.00 am ET, the European Commission is scheduled to issue euro area economic sentiment survey results for January. The economic confidence index is seen unchanged at 107.8 in January. Economists forecast the business sentiment index to rise to 0.83 in January from 0.79 in December.

At 8.00 am ET, Destatis is slated to publish Germany's flash inflation figures for January. Prices are forecast to climb 2 percent annually in January after rising 1.7 percent in December.
