COLOMBIA: At Peace, Country Has Potential To Invest And Export - Santos

09/26/2017 - 17:29:00 (RTTNews)

(RTTNews) - Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos said Tuesday that, now at peace, Colombia has enormous potential to invest and export. He also called on businesspeople to be more aggressive by exporting and to take full advantage of the free trade agreements involving Colombia.

"The investment climate is improving, the opportunities that are generated in areas that have never been open to investment are hot, the indicators are very favorable, poverty has declined to historical lows, and the economy has regained momentum after the problems which you well know," Santos said.

He noted that foreign investment in Colombia grew 16% last year, while in Latin America fell 8% as a whole, which shows that the country is on the radar of investors who are now coming for peace.

The president highlighted the increase in the number of countries where Colombia carries its products, as well as companies that have turned to the export market and said that the government, along with businesspeople, has taken enormous steps to facilitate the industrial activity.
