(RTTNews) - The Colombian Government and the National Liberation Army (ELN) guerrilla group asked the United Nations Security Council to take part in the supervision of the cease-fire bilateral agreement that will takes effect on Sunday.

The cease-fire will be verified by a joint mechanism made up of Colombian security forces, ELN members, the UN and the Catholic Church, according to a joint statement by the government and the guerrilla.
