CHILE: Country Wants To Import Argentinean Natural Gas To Meet Energy Needs

09/14/2017 - 16:22:00 (RTTNews)

(RTTNews) - Chile's energy minister Andres Rebolledo reaffirmed that the country's government wants to resume natural gas imports by the end of 2018. He added that the Argentinean gas "could be very competitive" to meet the energy needs of his country.

In an interview with the Argentinean official news agency Télam, the Chilean official said that together with the Argentina's Minister of Energy and Mining, Juan José Aranguren, "the last details are being dealt with to the signing, still this year, of a bilateral agreement aimed at establishing an energy swap. "

Last week, Aranguren had anticipated that Argentina could resume gas exports to Chile "from the summer of 2018-2019." The Argentinean government seeks to generate demand to increase the interest of the oil companies to strengthen their investments and increase productivity in the shale oil and gas fields of Vaca Muerta.
