Bulgaria Current Account Swings To Surplus In February

(RTTNews) - Bulgaria's current account balance turned to a surplus in February from a deficit in the previous year, preliminary figures from the Bulgarian National Bank showed Thursday.

The current account balance showed a surplus of EUR 316.8 million in February versus a deficit of EUR 37.7 million in the corresponding month last year.

The goods trade deficit narrowed to EUR 90.7 million in February from EUR 136.1 million a year earlier. At the same time, the services trade surplus shrank to EUR 45.5 million from EUR 132.1 million.

The primary income balance came in at a surplus of EUR 12.3 billion in February against a deficit of EUR 108.2 million last year. On the other side, the secondary income surplus grew notably from EUR 74.5 million to EUR 349.6 million.

The capital account surplus dropped to EUR 20.1 million from EUR 77.9 million. However, the financial account surplus rose to EUR 361.2 million from EUR 346.0 million.
