BRAZIL: DI Rates Trade Almost Stable Amid Thinner Volume, Waiting For Agenda

07/02/2018 - 18:03:00 (RTTNews)

(RTTNews) - The one-day interbank deposit futures rates (DI rates) in Brazil are trading almost stable, keeping narrow oscillation and reduced liquidity, even after the end of the Brazilian football match in the World Cup, which wiped out the turnover in the morning. Investors are expecting economic indicators in Brazil and the United States for the next few days.

Fixed-income traders said business with DIs today is marked by the low financial turnaround, both because of the World Cup and the expectation of the week's economic agenda.

"The 4th of July holiday in the United States and Brazil's match today take away much of the market volume," said Infinity Asset chief economist Jason Vieira. For him, the domestic numbers on inflation and industrial production, in addition to data on the labor market in the United States are the highlights until Friday.

Near the end of Monday's session, the January 2019 DI contract rate was at 6.825%, from 6.83% in the previous settlement, while the January 2020 DI rate was stable at 8.32%. The January 2021 DI contract rate was at 9.32%, from 9.31%.
