BRAZIL: DI Rates Open Mixed Monday As Investors Await Monetary Policy Decisions

07/30/2018 - 13:55:00 (RTTNews)

(RTTNews) - The one-day interbank deposit futures rates (DI rates) in Brazil opened mixed Monday as investors await the monetary policy decisions by the central banks of Brazil, United States, England and Japan.

Intermediate maturities record mild rising tracking the caution mood abroad, while shorter ones are stable.

Renascenia Corretora's team considers that "the climate is a bit cautious, with investors waiting the intense week of events and economic indicators."

Besides the monetary policy decisions expected for the next few days, investors should monitor employment and payroll data in the United States.

In the political scenario, electoral issues "are gaining special attention, with the conclusion of party conventions," said the chief economist of SulAmerica Investimentos, Newton Rosa.

The deadline for parties to officialize its presidential bids ends on Sunday. From there, the campaign intensifies and markets can change direction.

Near the middle of the session, the January 2019 DI contract rate was stable at 6.615%, while the January 2020 DI rate was at 7.87%, from 7.89% in the previous settlement. The January 2021 DI contract rate was stable at 8.88%.
