BRAZIL: DI Rates Open Mixed Amid Thin Trading Volume

06/22/2018 - 19:36:00 (RTTNews)

(RTTNews) - The one-day interbank deposit futures rates (DI rates) in Brazil opened mixed on Friday, both short and long maturities, amid thin trading volume due to the match between Brazil and Costa Rica in the World Cup. Meanwhile, investors reverberate the decision of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to increase crude oil output.

"In the foreign exchange and interest rate markets, our bias is more positive for today - that is, downward bias. Country risk perception, measured by the 5 year CDS, is slightly lower, at around 265 basis points," said Guide Investimentos' analysts in a report.

According to Dow Jones Newswire, the OPEC has made an initial agreement to increase production by 600,000 barrels per day. Members of the OPEC are still meeting to finalize the agreement.

According to Pedro Galdi, an analyst at Mirae Asset, the financial market abroad starts the business on Friday with a readiness to recover. "While we are again seeing this behavior, the factors that have led to stress investors are still on the radar, such as the Federal Reserve and the US-China trade war."

Near the middle of the session, the January 2020 DI rate was at 8.68%, from 8.66%. The January 2021 DI contract rate was at 9.74%, from 9.72%.
