ARGENTINA: PPP To Boost Investment In Country's Infrastructure - Moody's

03/19/2018 - 13:27:00 (RTTNews)

(RTTNews) - Argentina's new public-private partnership program could boost investment in large-scale infrastructure projects, said credit rating agency Moody's.

The program reaches 26 billion Argentinean pesos that should be invested in around 60 projects between 2018 and 2022.

According to the agency, the works with PPP should address the "substantial needs" of infrastructures in Argentina, such as routes, energy and mining, communications, water, sanitation and housing projects. Moody's assessment takes into account the experiences of other Latin American countries that implemented PPPs in the last decade.

Moody's also highlighted that the financing of these works should be a combination of bank debt and bond issue in local and international markets, since local investors may not be able to provide all the required financing.

"PPP efforts will help boost the country's low investment rates and will do so in a way that limits the fiscal impact of the program," the report said.
